Peisey-Vallandry is one of the villages in the Les Arcs ski area. Les Arcs and La Plagne  together combine to make one of the largest ski areas in Europe with at total of 425 kilometres of piste. The Peisey lift station located at 1650 metres in Plan-Peisey, or from the Vallandry lift in Vallandry. From the lower village of Peisey, locals and visitors can use the famous ‘Lobster Pots’ (or Lonzagne lift) for free transportation to the lift.

Plan-Peisey is connected to La Plagne via the Vanoise Express, a cable car that spans the divide between the Peisey-Vallandry/Les Arcs ski area and La Plagne. The 180 person cable car, which was built in 2003, stretches 1.8 kilometres and is elevated 380 metres above the valley floor.

Beginner skiers

There is an excellent beginners area with easy lifts that are separated from the advanced skiers. There’s a selection of very wide open pistes and easy runs winding through the trees.

Intermediate skiers

The pistes of Peisey-Vallandry are varied and have an abundance of intermediate runs. Over 50% could be considered intermediate level – a fun place for families to enjoy.

Intermediate skiers and snowboarders will find the Peisey-Vallandry area a brilliant place to hone skills. There are wide open blues and not-too-tricky reds that will keep you entertained for months.

Advanced skiers

An abundance of skiing for the more advanced is available, with lots of relatively easily accessible off piste such as La Grive (local knowledge and stable conditions required) as well as masses of tree runs from the Derby chairlift.

THINGS TO DO IN PEISEY-VALLANDRY

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, visitors to Peisey-Vallandry can take part in a range of fantastic mountain sports. With a broad selection of shops and a cinema, there is plenty to keep visitors occupied when they’re not on the slopes.

Action and sport

Cross country skiing (nordic), snowshoeingice climbing and paragliding. We highly recommend paragliding (parapente in French) for an amazing birds-eye view of the valley.

With animals

Activities with animals are available beyong Nancroix, on the edge of the Vanoise National Park. These include husky sledding,  horse-drawn sleigh riding and a walk with reindeers.

Relaxation and well being

For those in the group that would like a day to relax, there is a large spa in Plan-Peisey called L’Orée des Cimes offering treatments and packages.  The Vanoise Hotel offers treatments, and a swimming pool, small sauna and a hot tub over looking the piste.

Yoga lessons with Bec Black are regularly available in the school in Peisey village.  Check the website for times.

Culture

For those who culture, architecture or religion, Sainte Trinité church in Peisey-Nancroix is well worth a visit.

Entertainment

Vallandry boasts its own cinema, where two films are screened each day in the winter. An extra film will be shown if the weather is very bad.

On the edge of the Réches Piste nestled next to the woods is The Blanche Murée. NEARBY RESORTS

The better known resorts of Les Arcs and La Plagne are connected to Peisey-Vallandry via a network of ski lifts. We love Peisey-Vallandry because it is that bit smaller, so has a personal touch.
